The „International Neuroscience Institute“ officially opened at the end of July 2000 and has been introduced and developed as a specialized clinic and research centre for neurosciences. Famous surgeons and specialists break new ground from this Hannover location with research into the central nervous system and brain. An extraordinary project, in which the architectural design of the International Neuroscience Institute is reflected. The outer form and the inner structure of the building deliberately awaken associations with the appearance of the human brain.
This project is an ambitious and technically complicated architectural concept, which brought the specialists to Hannover. We were involved in the development of this futuristic looking research centre.
We designed, produced and assembled the point fixed glass panels (including maintenance balconies and fall protection systems), which emphasizes the horizontal
structure of the building and which is indicating the human skull with the help of the slanting glazing-positions.
Furthermore we were authorized to the following constructions: jamb-/boltelements as unitized element façade in the area of the second storey up to seventh storey, steel-/glass-façades in the area of the ground floor and grooves, steel-glass-handrails with point fixed glazing, sun shading as vertical awning, automatic sliding door facilities, single windows, sheet metal façade and the skylight on the top of the building.
The different angles resulting from the ellipsoidal shape required additional engineering services during the stage of assembly.
Due to the complicated geometry, the façade elements in the area of the ground floor up to the seventh floor were theoretically determined by us and then delivered to the construction site and assembled as unitized façade elements.
Tests were necessary to obtain a special permission from the government for the point fixed glass panels in the area of the window attic and railings.
